18 doctors who failed to do duty in Bhagalpur and Banka
Despite all instructions from the Health Department, 362 medical officers of the state are not coming on duty. It includes seven doctors from Bhagalpur and 11 from Banka. The department has taken seriously not to contribute during the Corona crisis. The Health Department has warned against taking stern action if not contributing.
The Health Department has stated that all types of leave (except study and maternity leave) of all medical officers, nurses, paramedical and fourth-class personnel of the state are canceled till May 31 for prevention and preventive measures of infection caused by the corona virus. Even in the hour of this disaster, despite departmental instructions, many medical officers are unofficially absent at the posting site. It is being monitored regularly by the Health Department.
As per information taken on different dates between 31 March to 12 April, 362 medical officers of the remaining district except Katihar are unofficially absent. The Health Department has expressed condolences for disregard of the directives and negligence towards government work. The department has warned of action under the Disaster Management Act 2005 and the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897. The department has directed to make meaningful efforts for prevention of infection by appearing on its duty at the time of novel corona virus.
Apart from Bhagalpur, Banka, doctors of Munger, Purnia, Madhepura, Kishanganj, Jamui, Khagaria etc. are also absent. Bhagalpur Civil Surgeon Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh said that many doctors have been absent since contributing. An official of the Health Department said that the information and attendance of all the health workers are being taken daily from the headquarters level. Monitoring of attendance and work of doctors is being done from the headquarters level.
