Yogi government increases VAT on oil in Uttar Pradesh, petrol 2 and diesel costing Re 1 per liter
The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has increased VAT on petrol diesel to compensate for the economic loss due to the lockdown. Due to this, petrol has become expensive by Rs 2 and diesel by Rs 1 per liter.
UP Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that the price of petrol is 71.91 paise, after being expensive by 2 rupees it will be 73.91 paise. The price of diesel will increase from Rs 62.85 per liter to Rs 63.86 per liter. The new prices will be applicable from 12 pm on Wednesday night. The Finance Minister said that this decision has been taken to increase the resources of the state.
Earlier on Tuesday night, the central government increased the excise duty on petrol by Rs 10 per liter and excise duty on diesel by Rs 13 per liter. It did not burden the customers' pockets, but after this increase, people will not be able to get any benefit from the reduced prices of crude oil in the international market.

Tuesday announced the increase of VAT (value added tax) on Delhi government's fuel. After this, petrol in Delhi became expensive by Rs 1.67 and diesel by Rs 7.10 per liter. After this, the price of diesel in Delhi has become the highest among metro cities. However, petrol still remains cheaper than all metro cities.
