'If Uddhav Thackeray is going to build Ayodhya Ram temple, I will go to build mosque'

Farhan Azmi, son of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Abu Azmi, said that if Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray goes to Ayodhya to build a Ram temple, he will build a mosque there. Azmi said, “I have great respect for Uddhav Thackeray. But if he (on March 7) is going to Ayodhya to build a Ram temple, then I will go with him and build a mosque there. ”

Farhan Azmi, husband of former Bollywood actress Ayesha Takia and son of Maharashtra Samajwadi Party chief and MLA Abu Asim Azmi, questioned Thackeray's proposed visit to Ayodhya instead of Siddhivinayak temple here. However, the SP chief of the state distanced himself from his son's statements and said that he is not a member of the SP.

On the other hand Shiv Sena spokesperson Manisha Kayande said that since the matter has been resolved by the Supreme Court, Farhan's statement may lead to contempt of court. Farhan was speaking at a meeting organized by the 'Parcham Foundation' and 'We the People of India' at the Radio Club, Colaba to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Civil Register (NRC).

He said that I invite my father (Abu Azmi) and all MLAs and members of Maha Vikas Aghadi to join us in building the mosque. Kayande told IANS, "It could be a contempt of the Supreme Court. The top court has allotted five acres of land for the mosque. He can go there and do whatever he wants to do. "

However, the alliance's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress have not responded to Farhan Azmi's remarks. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state vice-president Kirit Somaiya expressed surprise at Shiv Sena's silence on the issue.
