Arun Govil was rejected to play the role of 'Ram' in 'Ramayana', later he got a role like this
Actor Arun Govil is best known for his character 'Ram' in 'Ramayana'. Ramanand Sagar's hit religious serial came in the 80s. And was also quite famous. At that time people used to sit down in front of the TV to finish the work and watch 'Ramayana'.
In an interview to Times of India, Arun Govil brings back memories. Arun Govil told that when he went to audition for 'Ramayana' for the first time, he was rejected. But later the makers came to him and offered him the role of 'Ram', after which his life changed.
Arun Govil says that I auditioned for Ram. But the makers rejected. He did not like my work at that time. But later he himself came to me. The person playing the character of Laxman left the serial after shooting four episodes. After that he got the role Sunil Lahiri. But Sunil was playing the role of Shatrughan earlier. Our music director Jaidev ji had passed away, meanwhile Ravindra Jain came. Jaydev ji has composed only the title track of 'Ramayana'. Many similar things happened during the shooting, but we kept shooting.
Arun Govil is happy that it was aired again due to the lockdown. And the way it was loved by the people in the old times, this time also saw the same love. Let me tell you that due to Corona virus lockdown, shooting of all TV serials has stopped. After 33 years, 'Ramayana' has returned to Doordarshan.
